Reeva Bangera, selected as one of six young artists from Canyon Ranch Elementary to be celebrated for Youth Art Month.
"I used markers, Sharpies, colored pencils, and pencils to create my artwork. I drew a draft, which I later sketched on my final paper. Then, I traced the shoe with a sharpie. Later, I came up with patterns to represent me, and added them around my shoe. Finally, I colored the pattern with markers. I created this artwork and the pattern of all my favorite things." - Reeva
"I used watercolor, India ink, micron pens, and color pencil. I made this artwork to
convey the importance of imagination and creativity. I believe that art and music are forms of expression by which people exhibit their creativity and inner fantasies. I decided to use ink strokes that were both geometric and flowing to symbolize how imagination has no limits. The color scheme that I chose for the background was based on my interest in the sunrise. I have always loved watching the sunset because the light seems to bathe the world in an unearthly glow that seems almost magical. Put together with the ink strokes and the image of me listening to music with an unknown person, my overall piece illustrates the uniqueness of imagination and how creativity is a concept that comes differently to each person. Despite how unconventional creativity may be, one's imagination can be like the sunrise, basking the world in a new, extraordinary light." - Nuthana
DART’s annual Student Art Contest is a chance for students in grades K-12 to help promote the use of public transportation through art.
